Pick how line breaks are handled
Join paragraphs turns the short lines of a page into flowing paragraphs and puts words split with a hyphen back together. Keep layout leaves every line where it was, with indents, which suits tables, forms and code.

Leave Add page separators on to get a line such as --- Page 3 --- before each page, or turn it off for one continuous text

Click Convert to text
The first part of the text appears so you can check it, with a button to copy all of it. Then download the file.

The file is plain UTF-8 text, named after the original, so report.pdf becomes report.txt.

Questions people ask

That page holds no real text, only a picture of it, which is usual for scanned paper and photos of documents. The page is marked "[no text found, this page may be a scan]" so you can see where it was. To get words from a scan, it first has to go through OCR (text recognition).
