Photos and scans shrink the most. A file that is mostly text or line art may barely move, and that is expected. If a file cannot get smaller, you get the original bytes back and the page says so.

Keep a copy of the source if you still need the full-resolution images. This tool trades image detail for size. Vector type is not turned into a picture. Work through one batch, open the download, then decide if you need a lighter or stronger pass.
